Recently we got some Jujubes. Well this time its the green type. You can see the difference below. The green type has a pear taste to it. The reddish orange types has a sweet taste to it. I personally like the green type ones. Back in dec of 2010, I was given two boxes of the green type Jujube, triple the size you see below. It was rare and expensive. My Guava guy got it from a farm in Florida and sold it to me for a price of 160 dollar a box. It was really tasting.
Here in our store, the green Jujube sold rapidly. We go through about 20 cases per day. I usually buy 3 pounds for myself. We sold it as 2.99 per pound.

I have mentioned in the past Blogs about our website but never did I took the time to take a snap shot of it. Well this is still the basic layout, I am just too lazy to work on it and improve it. You can see the logo on it still have red color for the word “Gold” ^_^

I re made our new logo. If you look at my last few blogs you can see that the word “Gold” is in red and the word “City” is in yellow. I switched it around because I think the color yellow fits more with Gold.
As for the Japanese Food Festival, we did another event again in Nov. It seen that it went really well at the first one that we decided to do another one. And when other companies saw how we set things up, they came and offer to do their company event as well. Walong Marketing Inc, one of the biggest Asian Product Distributors in USA came to us and asked if we can do an event with their products. We did but it did not go as well as Nishimoto Trading. The staff they hired wasn’t very professional nor young. But I am thinking about doing another Christmas Event with Prime Food. They sell good dumplings.

Since we had a successful Japanese Food Festival back couple of months ago, I have decided to ask Nishimoto to come back and do an Autumn Japanese food Festival. This time we added more stands from 8 stands to 11 stands now. More food, more girls, and more fun. This time I am going to take photos and post it on my next blog. The girls they hired to demonstrate the products were very cute.
Wow the resolution on this image is just horrible. Please visit our website to get a better version.

I have decided to change my company logo. First photo is my re design logo and the second logo was the previous logo that was designed by a printing company. It was designed a couple years ago. I feel like the old logo needed to be change to look and feel more refresh.
The previous logo has a nice symbol touch to the word “Gold City” however I feel it is too complicated for viewers to know it is Gold City at first sigh. I believe the logo has too much things going on e.g. symbol, large size “g” font, gold city supermarket font in english and chinese with other characters. It was too much.
I wanted to go for a simple fresh logo that catches viewer’s eyes and tell them this is Gold City Supermarket.
What do you think which logo is better?

I have designed this poster the other day for our upcoming Japanese Food Festival. It is just a fancy name for food tasting and promotion involving food, snacks, and drinks from Japan. We are going to set up a total of 8 stations for each product. Customers can try and taste each type of products except beer. Because come on! I think there will be a long line for that. We have asked Nishimoto Trading Co. to sponsor the products, well they asked us. They gave me an ugly poster for this festival so I sat down and came up with this poster on my own.
